Welcome to Arts With Altitude.

Nevada County is rich in history and natural beauty. We also have more artists per capita than anywhere else in California. Many are world-class talents with worldwide reputations. We also have our share of Grammy and Pulitzer winners.

Why so much talent in such a small place? Well, for starters there’s our environment. It’s some of the most spectacular geography on the planet, with dozens of lakes, rivers and mountains. We also have some of the most interesting and exciting things to do, like skiing, boating, fishing, biking, camping and hiking, to name a few.

Then there are the extraordinary little towns our artists call home; historic places with amazing stories, people and architecture, plus an incredible number of great restaurants, wineries, B&B’s and cultural venues.

Ask anybody who’s visited Grass Valley, Nevada City or Truckee. Most can’t wait to come back!

Throughout the year there is a constant stream of art here – at concerts, film festivals, readings and dance performances; on studio tours; and in our galleries and theaters. That’s why we created the Arts with Altitude site – to introduce you to our art and the people who create it.
